Monday's Bread Bowl: Tapenade

Spread the olive flavor

This spread can really change things up compared to the usual cream cheese or dairy based spreads.  Olives and capers provide a flavor foundation and the anchovies give it a savory kick.  Here’s the recipe:

What you will need:

1 spoon
1 food processor
1 small to medium-sized bowl
1 cup olives, pitted
1 garlic clove, minced
3 anchovy filets
3 tbspns olive oil
3 basil leaves, chopped
1 tbspn lemon juice
2 tbspns capers
Pinch of coarse salt
1 or 2 teaspoons tabasco
Optional:
Pine nuts

Directions and Preparation:

Combine all ingredients in food processor.  Pulse gently until smooth then place in bowl.  Garnish with a sprinkle of pine nuts.  Serve immediately with crackers, sliced veggies, or toasted bruschetta.
